Cypress Landing Yacht Club

Bridge Meeting

3/3/08

The March 3, 2008 Cypress Landing Yacht Club Bridge was called to order by Commodore John Rebholtz at 3:00pm.  Present were Commodore Rebholtz, Rear Commodore Barry Barwatt, Vice Commodore Maria Musor, Treasurer Shirley Hanberry and Secretary Douglas Smith.  The webmaster Jim Keen was present along with committee chairpersons: Jim Ellis, Bill Peters, Alan Correll, Laura Staton, Shirley Phillips, Marsha Stasch and Al Ross.

The February 4, 2008 minutes were accepted as distributed.

Old Business:

Web Site:  It has been updated and adjustments are being made to improve.  Jim is updating the events calendar and hopes to have articles in the history section and is exploring the possibility of doing a "who's who" section monthly.  The awards situation and how that should be handled was discussed. Vice Commodore Maria Musor will explore with an assist from Marcia Stasch.

Christmas Flotilla:  Letter received from Power Squadron requesting we canvass our membership for person or persons willing to accept responsibility/coordination.  Decision made to send the letter back to the power squadron...not our place to canvas membership as we have notified the power squadron we do not feel able to take over this undertaking.  The feeling was that it is the responsibility of the DWOW or chamber of commerce.  The Commodore to respond to the Power Squadron.

Monument dedication to be on the 28th of March.  Marina Committee requested our support in providing refreshments and hospitality to the invited guests.  This is being handled by the Social Committee.

Financial Report:  Shirley Hanberry reported a balance currently of $7,960.00.  This is a very fluid figure and is dependant on the time of the month.

Committee Reports:

Bylaws:  Meeting scheduled, nothing to report.

Outreach:  Visitor Pass for any transient.  They get a key to the restrooms.  Use of pool or other amenities would require that committee to approve.  Concern about marking a channel into the marina will be pursued with wildlife.  Still attempting to contact Girl Scouts re; scholarship.

Education: Speakers planned and coast guard inspections in conjunction with marina maintenance clean-up day.

Fleet:  Jim Ellis is gathering schedules of various groups within Yacht club and trying to organize some fun events.

House:  Supplies on hand, nothing new.

     Marina:  Nothing to report

Membership:  Submitted membership report, binders prepared.  ID cards placed on counter in Marina.  Awaiting shipment of new burgees.

Newsletter:  Will be submitted on 3/22.

Race:  How do we increase participation being studied.  Looking at possibility of two tier race.

New Member social set for 3/20

New Business:

     Established the position of Historian.

Next meeting scheduled for April 7th.

Respectfully submitted,

Douglas Smith, Secretary
